PAREP


Introduction

PAREP – ‘Paduka Rural Empowerment programme’ is the unique extension initiative of the institution, which connects the institution with the rural environs.  With an aim of establishing closer links with the rural populace, to pass on the benefits of the initiatives of faculty and students including their research outcomes. Welfare measures, General awareness, training and similar actions have been taken in 8 villages through Village Adoption Programme and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. Visible imprints have been made in all the villages through the interventional efforts of Srimad Andavan Arts and Science College which has won accolades both from the people and Government.

AIM

To empower the rural community through transfer of knowledge, imparting skills and extending infrastructural support for their sustainable development as prioritized by the Founder of the Institution His Holiness Srimad Andavan Swamigal.

Objectives:
  • To identify development challenges and evolve appropriate solutions accelerating sustainable growth of adopted villages and schools.
  • To impart the needs of higher education to the school students to reduce the drop outs and to mould the students into citizens with responsibility, accountability and integrity through various awareness and training programmes.  
  • To provide adequate skill training to the women of the adopted villages and to make them as successful entrepreneurs.
  • To sensitize and train the farmers of the adopted village on Organic Farming for their sustainable livelihood.

Village Adoption Programme

Introduction

“Village Adoption means to work along with the community at the grass root level, while enabling / empowering them for pursuing the goal of development of the village in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and learning as to what works and what doesn’t and evolve a model of village development for replication and trainings”.
To create lasting change in the lives of people of the village(s) with special focus on disadvantaged groups by Sustainable and inclusive growth, with adequate opportunity for every person to lead a useful and productive life to his or her full potential”.
Villaga adoption programme was initiated in the year 2005 Panayapuram village was adopted and Theerampalayam village and Gandhiyar Middle Schhol of that village was adopted in 2012 and we are working in the village with the following objectives.
a) To help in the upliftment of weaker section
b) to enrich the status of the vulnerable both socially and economically
c) To create awareness based on the need of the comunity
d) To yield self-development among the community by helping the people to help themselves
e) To reduce schoo; drop out and illiteracy in the community

Triple I club

Introduction

Triple I project was initiated in 2011 August as an outreach programme of our college in parallel to the vision of our college. It covers schools like Srirangam Boys’ Hr. Secondary school, The Girls’ Hr. Secondary school, The High school-Thiruvanaikoil, Sri Vaijayanthi Vidhyala Hr. Sec. School and Vivekanandha Hr. Sec. school-Thiruparaithurai. The objectives of the programme are achieved with the support and co-ordination of the departments across our college.

  • To strengthen the attitude of the school students towards higher education. The students are imparted with the knowledge on the values in life.
  • To mould the students into good citizens with responsibility, accountability and integrity for a better tomorrow.
  • To encourage hidden talents of the students by conducting competitions for them.

  • Career guidance to the students.

Health

  • To offer counselling to needy students for healthy mind to ensure good mental health.
  • To extend knowledge and expertise from the fields science through science exhibitions.
  • To ensure proper physical health

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan


Introduction

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is inspired by the vision of transformational change in rural development processes by leveraging knowledge institutions to help build the architecture of an Inclusive India. Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is to enable higher educational institutions to work with the people of rural India in identifying development challenges and evolving appropriate solutions for accelerating sustainable growth.

Objectives
  • To build an understanding of the development agenda within institutes of Higher Education and an institutional capacity and training relevant to national needs, especially those of rural India.
  • To re-emphasize the need for field work, stakeholder interactions and design for societal objectives as the basis of higher education.
  • To stress on rigorous reporting and useful outputs as central to developing new professions.
  • To provide rural India and regional agencies with access to the professional resources of the institutes of higher education, especially those that have acquired academic excellence in the field of science, engineering and technology, and management.
