Committee Against Sexual Harassment

(CASH)

Aim

The objective of the CASH is the prevention and redressal of sexual harassment in any form and other acts of gender based violence in the college campus. The committee functions to raise awareness on sexual harassment inside the college campus. It creates a healthy social and psychological environment in the college premises.

Disciplinary Actions

Disciplinary action by the Committee will depend on factors such as the nature and extent of injury caused to the complainant, the impact of the violation on the institutions as a whole, the position of the harasser in the power hierarchy, repetition of offence etc.

A. If the Committee finds an employee (faculty, staff) of the Institute involved in sexual harassment, it will recommend the following disciplinary action:

  • Warning
  • Written apology
  • Bond of good behaviour
  • Debarring from teaching duties or duties as a guide or examiner or as a resource person.
  • Stopping of increments/promotion
  • Demotion
  • Suspension
  • Dismissal

B. If the Committee finds that a research scholar/student of the institute is involved in sexual harassment, it will recommend the following disciplinary action:

  • Warning
  • Written apology
  • Debarring entry into the hostel/mess/guest house/campus
  • Suspension for a specific period of time
  • Withholding results
  • Debarring from exams
  • Stopping of fellowship and contingency
  • Expulsion
  • Denial of admission

C. If the Committee finds a third party/outsider to be guilty of sexual harassment, the institute’s authorities will initiate action by making a complaint with the appropriate authority and at the Institute level it will recommend the following disciplinary action:

  • Warning
  • Written apology
  • Debarring entry into the campus
